Domaine Duroche

Domaine Duroché is a wine making fairy tale. Only five years after taking the helm, Pierre Duroché gained global recognition with exceptional pinots grown on Gevrey-Chambertin’s best plots. It is a star of the appellation in all its different expressions; well-located village plots, powerful premier crus and blockbuster grand crus. Domaine Duroché’s wines are some of the purest expressions of Pinot Noir in the Burgundy region.

This five-generation-old Domaine, located in the heartland of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, is a specialist of this appellation. It is back in 1953 that Pierre’s Grand-Father, Philippe Duroché, acquired three hectares of vineyard, in premier cru Lavaut-St-Jacques and grand cru Charmes-Chambertin. The Duroché family originated from the neighbourhood village Brochon, where most of their vines were located at the time. The Domaine eastablished in Gevrey-Chambertin moved the facilities a few meters away in the village in 1955 at Place du Monument where they still operate today.

Pierre joined the Domaine in 2005 and gradually increased his responsibilities by taking over from his father. It’s an important step to learn from the previous generation, in order to assimilate the full complexity of the job. In 2009, the leap of faith happened and Pierre took fully the reins of the estate with great goals in mind. Pierre’s philosophy is rooted into a simple yet crucial notion of balance.
